Walter S. Clements, CCIM, CRE
Owned an operated his own real estate companies and has been a broker, developer, sales manager, consultant and educator.
He served as a Sr. Vice President and Principal of a national commercial real estate firm and expanded from two offices to over 8 offices with 350 brokers and 900 employees specializing in corporate real estate services throughout the mid-west.
His own real estate development firm grew into 17 LLC’s and three projects totaling over $100 M of development consisting of Retail, Office and Mixed Use properties.
In 2008 he was asked to be the founding director of the real estate program at UMKC and within 5 years, as Assistant Professor, he created the Lewis White Real Estate Center which offered a Master’s Degree in Entrepreneurial Real Estate.
When that task was completed he was approached to become the CEO /EVP The CCIM Institute. Here he managed a staff of over 50 people with a membership of 13,000 members in 20 countries. He still serves as a Sr. Instructor and course author for the Institute and teaches internationally.
He has provided advice, consulting and training in 9 countries and has worked for major international firms. His consulting includes expert witnessing and asset management. Most recently he was retained to take over a 2 Million SF portfolio of real estate assets with a staff of 25 personnel and within two years grew the net Income to a high level which attracted an $80M capitalization and structured a joint venture for the benefit of the ownership.
He enjoys the thrill of building businesses and helping others succeed. There have been two scholarships established in his name. One at the KC Chapter of the CCIM Institute and the other at the Lewis White Real Estate Center at University of Missouri in Kansas City.
